New Ideas on Treating PTSD

The Military Channel has a new one-hour special called, "Horse Sense and Soldiers". It premieres Sunday, Septemeber 19 at 10pm on Military Channel.

“On paper it said I came back damaged,” said one soldier in the special. Please help us spread the word about how one man and a special technique changed the lives of three people and sent them on a road to healing.

In HORSE SENSE AND SOLDIERS, real-life horse whisperer Monty Roberts helps three Iraq war veterans cope with symptoms of PTSD. He puts the veterans on a path to healing by teaching them to non-verbally communicate with and gain the trust of untrained horses. Through an innovative yet experimental approach to coping with PTSD, Roberts shares his lifetime of experience and insight in non-violent training as he gently coaches each veteran to read the silent language of horses and reach the point of breakthrough, or “Join Up,” the moment at which a wild horse will trust and accept human contact. It’s an inside look at the healing power of animal interaction as well as a unique PTSD rehabilitation technique – an especially timely topic as soldiers are returning home from Iraq right now

In addition to working with PTSD, Roberts has worked to rehabilitate troubled teens, convicts and abused women. He rescued his horses from a stock-line where they were going to be killed, and now he rescues these men and women with the same love.

I am looking forward to seeing this and discussing what others are thinking about it.
Please help me rally for our troops. Leave your thoughts and let us know if you will join us on here to discuss the special on the 19th!
