DD214
After coming home from Iraq six years ago I was pushed through my discharge very quickly. My DD214 did not reflect my service over seas due to my unit still being deployed. After struggling with becoming a civilian again and trying to get it amended, I had given up hope that it would be made right. Just this past week
I contacted the VA in Marion, Indiana. Much to my surprise there was a very nice lady that took the time to help. She pulled my pay history that reflected that I had been paid for combat service. Finally, I see a light at the end of my dark tunnel. I want anyone who reads this to know that they are not alone.
My survivors guilt has been chipped away and I am starting to feel like my time away from my family was worth it. So to anyone out there who is in need of hope, hang on. The war is not over but your battle can be put to rest. If you know an outlet for the veterens who are back let them know. Share your story, someone may have the answer you need.
