Law barring military medal lies is tested

Federal courts are wrestling with 2006’s Stolen Valor Act, which makes it a crime punishable by up to a year in jail to falsely claim to have received a medal from the U.S. military, even if the liar makes no effort to profit from the stolen glory.

Men charged in Colorado and California are challenging the law, saying the First Amendment protects almost all speech.

I think this is a law that should be beefed up. If you didn't earn it you sure shouldn't claim to have. I also think that to enforce this law they need to catch up on medals due. There are a lot of vets out there who do not have everything they desirve. It makes me sick to think anyone would claim to have honors they did not earn.
