US Ambassador Participates in Humanitarian Mission in Sindh Province 1 year 29 weeks Newly-appointed U.S. Ambassador to Pakistan Cameron P. Munter thanks Marines, Oct. 30, at Pano Aqil Cantonment, Pakistan, for the contributions they’ve made to flood relief operations. The ambassador visited Pano Aqil Cantonment, Pakistan, to see first-hand the Pakistan and U.S. military flood relief efforts conducted in the Sindh Province, Pakistan, as well as to participate in a humanitarian mission bringing relief supplies to flood victims. The 26th and 15th Marine Expeditionary Units have been flying CH-53 Super Stallion and CH-46 Sea Knight helicopters to isolated locations in the Sindh province, Pakistan, since early September and since then have transported more than 3.7 million pounds of relief supplies to 150 different locations in southern Pakistan. Marines continue relief operations in Sindh Province 1 year 29 weeks As flood waters remain in some areas of the Sindh province and washed-out roads make the distribution of relief supplies via ground transportation difficult, U.S. Marine Corps helicopters continue flying missions to World Food Programme aid distribution sites near Pano Aqil Cantonment, Pakistan. The U.S. Marine Corps’ 15th and 26th Marine Expeditionary Units have been operating CH-46 Sea Knight and CH-53 Super Stallion helicopters in the Sindh province since early September bringing relief supplies to those in need.
