Support for Israeli wildfire response | 1 year 9 weeks | Aircrew unload fire retardant from a C-130J Hercules to supporting the wildfire relief efforts near Haifa, Israel, Dec. 4. U.S. Air Forces in Europe airlifted 20 tons of fire retardant to Israel in a joint mission with U.S. European Command to provide humanitarian assistance to Israel. EUCOM started the mission after the Israeli government requested help from the U.S. Department of State to control and extinguish the wildfires to save lives, homes, infrastructure and natural resources. Humanitarian Assistance Russia | 1 year 25 weeks | Military members from U.S. European Command, United States Air Forces in Europe, 86th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, and the 37th Airlift Squadron download firefighting and humanitarian supplies from a C-130J in Moscow August 14, 2010. The supplies are being delivered to Moscow after an official request from the government of Russia to the U.S. and at the request of The Department of State. The Department of Defense directed U.S. European Command to provide valuable firefighting equipment that includes firefighting protective equipment and tools to help Russia combat the ongoing wildfires.
