M1-A1 Abrams main battle tank Fires its Main Gun | 2 years 16 weeks | An M1-A1 Abrams main battle tank attached to India Company, Battalion Landing Team, 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, fires its main gun during a Combined-Arms Live-Fire Exercise conducted as part of Exercise Bright Star 2009 in Egypt, Oct. 14. The multinational exercise is designed to improve readiness, interoperability, and strengthen the military and professional relationships among U.S., Egyptian and participating forces. Bright Star is conducted by U.S. Central Command and held every two years. Flames spout from an M1-A1 tank | 2 years 22 weeks | Flames spout from an M1-A1 tank with Tank Platoon, India Company, Battalion Landing Team, 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, during the deliberate assault course at a training area near Camp Buehring, Kuwait, Sept. 1, 2009. The unit sharpened their skills in combined arms operations during the training by using infantry, tanks, Amphibious Assault Vehicles, aviation, artillery, and mortars in a concerted effort.
