Marines Participate in Glendale's Memorial Day Parade During Fleet Week New York 2011 36 weeks 15 hours Marines with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, participate in a Memorial Day parade at Glendale N.Y. Project runway: Marines move 12 Million Pounds of Matting in Afghanistan 39 weeks 2 days Marines with Marine Wing Support Squadron 272 pick of the remaining pieces of aluminum matting that was the expeditionary runway at Camp Bastion, Afghanistan, May 8. The Marines picked up more than 1.8 million square feet of aluminum matting during the project. Initial Response Force 44 weeks 2 days Marines with the Initial Response Force walk out of a C-5 Galaxy after arriving here April 3. The Initial Response Force is a 155-person team comprised of Marines from Naval Support Facility, Indian Head, Md. As a smaller element of the chemical, biological, and incident response force, the IRF is specifically trained in the areas of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and high yield explosion operations.
