Flags on a Flagstaff

Sailors assigned to amphibious command ship USS Mount Whitney lower the Ensign, during the shifting of colors as the ship gets underway from its homeport of Gaeta, Italy. The ship is getting underway with embarked members of the U.S. 6th Fleet staff to conduct scheduled training in the Mediterranean Sea. Mount Whitney is the flagship for the U.S. 6th Fleet where it conducts a variety of U.S. Navy and NATO operations and exercises throughout the year.
