Chief Petty Officer Matthew Scarlato, aviation boatswain's mate (handling), signals to launch an F/A-18F Super Hornet assigned to Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 22 aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson. The Carl Vinson Carrier Strike Group is deployed supporting maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
