Air Assault in Kandahar Province

An Infantry Soldier dismounts from the side of a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter while his team pulls security after an insertion onto harsh terrain in Kandahar province. The insertion and extraction of the infantry Soldiers from 1st Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division was conducted in support of a deliberate operation to disrupt insurgent communication. "The disruption caused by this operation will have a great effect in Kandahar province, Capt. Matthew Bebo, liaison officer for 1st Bn. 12th Inf. Regt. "We have been coordinating with multiple aviation task forces for this operation, but only TF Talon [3rd Battalion, 82nd Aviation Regiment, 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade] and the Wild Mustangs were able to find [helicopter landing zones] HLZs close enough to the targets to complete our mission."
