Division Marines’ music honors fallen brethren
Sgt. Jason Comfort, a trumpeter with the 1st Marine Division (Forward) Band, plays Taps, Nov. 5, 2010. Comfort, a 21-year-old native of West Linn, Ore., and his fellow band members play Taps to honor fallen Marines during memorial ceremonies at Camp Leatherneck. Taps, also knows as ‘Butterfield’s Lullaby,’ was first played during the Civil War, signifying ‘lights out’ for service members. Today it is ceremonially played to honor those who have given their lives for America’s freedom.
