New Courthouse Strengthens Kapisa Rule of Law

A local cook grills kabobs in preparation for a feast for members of the Kapisa Provincial Reconstruction Team, local government officials and residents during the opening festivities of a new courthouse facility in Nijrab District here Nov. 13. The new facility consists of a justice center, residential quarters, generator room, jail facility, guard shack and restrooms. The courthouse project is intended to support the government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan by providing the people a legitimate alternative to the Taliban vigilante justice system. The mission of Kapisa PRT is to help facilitate the local and national governments of Afghanistan working together to help provide for the development and security needs of the Afghan people.
