Nuristan PRT Briefs Department of State

U.S. Army 1st Lt. Michael Lutkevich of Gardner, Mass., platoon leader for the Nuristan Provincial Reconstruction Team security force, scans the horizon for possible threats during a visit to the agriculture center in Nangaresh village Nov. 18. The PRT security force ensures the PRT can safely work to improve the lives of Afghan citizens by connecting them to their government. The new agriculture center will enable district government ministers to be closer to the people they serve. The mission of the PRT is to improve the security, governance, infrastructure capacity in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
