India Battery Gets Eyes on Kajaki With New Gear, Improves Range and Visibility | 1 year 16 weeks | Camped out aboard Outpost Athens West, Lance Cpl. Kevin Sullivan, an artilleryman with India Battery, 3rd Battalion, 12th Marine Regiment, Regimental Combat Team 2, peers through his newly acquired Nokia “Big Eye” binoculars. Seeing over one of the highest points in Kajaki, the binoculars, capable of 120 power magnification, will help Marines at OP Athens West see what is going on below. “They will be able to see the action in our [area of operations] with greater clarity giving them the ability to get positive identification at greater ranges,” said Capt. Combat Engineer Honored at Memorial | 1 year 25 weeks | The 3rd Combat Engineer Battalion’s firing detail executes a 21-gun salute before the playing of Taps during Cpl. Paul Miller’s memorial ceremony aboard Camp Delaram II, Aug. 10. Miller, a combat engineer with 3rd CEB, Regimental Combat Team 2, was killed in action while on a patrol. During the ceremony, many Marines from Miller’s unit spoke about Miller’s character and told stories about Miller, as a Marine and a friend. After the ceremony was concluded, Marines passed by Miller’s battlefield memorial to say a quick prayer and salute the fallen Marine. Photo by Sgt.
