Refueling Over Afghanistan 2 years 31 weeks An F/A-18F Super Hornet assigned to the "Black Aces" of Strike Fighter Squadron VFA flies in front of two F/A-18C Hornets assigned to Strike Fighter Squadron VFA one of which, center, is re-fueling with the assistance of a U.S. Air Force KC-10 Extender over Afghanistan. The F/A-18's are part of the Nimitz Carrier Strike Group which is on a routine deployment to the region. Operations in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations are focused on reassuring regional partners of the United States commitment to security, which promotes stability and global prosperity.
