Marines, Afghan National Army Secure Bazaar, Speak With Village Elders | 2 years 3 weeks | While ridding the Salam Bazaar in Helmand province of known Taliban activity, April 14, the Marines of Company A, 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, Regimental Combat Team 2, along with the Afghan national army and the Afghan national police encountered heavy resistance from insurgent forces. Panjshir Hosts AEW Commander | 2 years 3 weeks | Soviet military equipment, including the pictured gun, sits atop the hill that houses the tomb of Ahmad Shah Massoud, "Hero of the Afghan Nation," who was killed in 2001. Air Force Col. Jack Briggs II, 455th Air Expeditionary Wing commander, Air Force Col. James Meersman, 755th Air Expeditionary Group commander and Chief Master Sgt. Jeffery Cui, 455 AEW command chief, were among the guests of Provincial Reconstruction Team Panjshir who visited the tomb, April 25.
