Memorial Day Remembered as Sandbag Operations Continue 50 weeks 6 days North Dakota National Guard members working at the Raging Rivers sandbag site in Mandan, N.D., along with civilians loading sandbags from the site, remove their hats and bow their hands for a minute of silence at 3 p.m. May 30 in observance of the National Moment of Remembrance for Memorial Day. Corps of Engineers Fights Souris River 50 weeks 6 days Water floods areas along the Souris River Basin near Minot, N.D. June 2. The Corps of Engineers is currently reinforcing levees within the city of Minot and other communities along the river to protect citizens from this year's historic flooding.
