Pre-Commissioning Unit New York Escort 2 years 28 weeks U.S. Coast Guard Marine Safety and Security Team Boston and New York City Police Department marine and air units escort the Pre-Commissioning Unit New York as the ship sails into New York Harbor, Nov. 2. The amphibious transport dock, laid with seven and a half tons of steel from the World Trade Center in its bow, will be commissioned in a ceremony at the Intrepid Air, Sea and Space Museum Nov. 7.
